Marlene Haderer
Linz

The series FLOWERS depicts the first part of a more extensively planned series of photos, which deal with the simple and relaxed things in the world.

Marlene Haderer’s work shows the superficial, the effects, the shine and the glittering and on the other hand the opposite: the depth, the truthfulness, the eternal and the genuine.

Plants are profane, quiet and tender and they simply exist. They are unexcited, banal and very beautiful. Plants are unimportant, nothing.

Here Andy Wahrhol in a dialogue with a woman friend discussing “Nothingness”:
B: Are you wiser this year than you were last year?
Warhol: Yes.
B: How? What did you learn this year that you didn‘t know before?
Warhol: Nothing. That‘s why I’m wiser. That extra year of learning more nothing.
B: I don‘t understand. If you keep learning more nothing, that makes it harder and harder to live. If you know life is nothing, then what are you living for?
Warhol: For nothing.
B: But I love being a woman, that‘s not nothing.
Warhol: being a woman is just as nothing as being a man.
B: Then why do you keep on making paintings? They are going to hang around when you die.
Warhol: That‘s nothing.
B: It‘s an idea that goes on.
Warhol: Ideas are nothing.
B: Okay, we agree. Then the only purpose in life is---
Warhol: Nothing. It doesn‘t mean if you don‘t believe in nothing that it is nothing. You have to treat the nothing as if it were something. Make something out of nothing.
