The animation journal du temps makes use of archival material of
journeys to various locations. In the process – a kind of reference
to one’s own reality - the situation of the traveller, his curiosity
and longing, but at the same time the difficulty of seeing and
comprehending beyond one’s own frontiers are directly addressed.
Travel logs by famous writers (A. Von Humboldt, J.W. von Goethe,
Georg Büchner and others) serve as the starting material for the
soundtrack.
They are abbreviated to such an extent, however, that only the
descriptions of the weather on the respective journey remain. Viewing
the assembly of a variety of minor and major travel impressions
combined with a commentary limited to a very narrow excerpt of
reality, one is confronted with that characteristic phenomenon of
talking about the weather: here the banal as well as existentially
significant are in unusually close proximity. |
